Highlights of 2013

As quickly as it arrived, Christmas came and went and now the focus is, aside from getting my butt off the sofa, is New Year’s Eve. So instead of giving a Highlight of the Week today, I thought it appropriate to do a re-cap of my favourite moments and highlights from 2013.

When I think back to a year ago, I was literally bursting with excitement and anticipation for what 2013 would bring us. We had so many plans and special events that I knew it would be an emotional roller coaster of experiences and memories that we would treasure forever and the year didn’t disappoint…

New Job

This time last year, I was miserable when it came to my work, to the point where I took the plunge and handed in my notice the day before Christmas Eve 2012. Not the best time of year to do so, but things were bad and since that day I haven’t looked back. Now I smile every day looking after my two foot side kick who makes me giggle and most of all, she makes me appreciate the little things in life…

Finding the Perfect Wedding Dress

I remember telling my brides that ‘you just know when you’ve found the one’…not the perfect Husband (which goes without saying) but the perfect dress. Although when it actually came to my turn, I wasn’t entirely filled with the same confidence I had previously dished out. But it’s true…you do know when you’ve found the dress that you see yourself walking down the aisle in and saying those all important “I Do’s!”. I will always remember that moment, when the curtain was pulled back, seeing Mum and my sister’s faces, telling me everything I was already feeling…I’d found my perfect wedding dress.

Such a happy day…finding The One!

Pre Wedding Photo Shoot

Even with my wedding planner experience, I found our planning process particularly stressful. The pressure was certainly on, which I entirely put on myself. But one of my favourite (and least stressful) moments has to be our pre-wedding photo shoot. I loved every minute of the experience and I’m sure the Hubster did too (although he wouldn’t admit it!)…we laughed the whole time, so much our cheeks ached, but it was such a perfect day to get us ready for the big day and to remind us what it was all about…us.

Hen Party…Part One, Two, Three, Four…

Wow. A girl definitely knows how loved she is when she has about four hen parties! I was so overwhelmed and touched by the effort and hard work that went into giving me the best celebrations leading up to our big day that I will always be grateful to my gorgeous sisters, Mum, Mother in Law and friends for making me feel so loved. A big dream came true when I became Alice for the day!

Our Wedding

This day was more than I could ever have dreamed and hoped for…everything was perfect and it certainly was the best day of my life. I got to marry my best friend, surrounded by everyone we love and I will appreciate and cherish this memory for the rest of my life.

Our Honeymoon

Two weeks in Mexico, five star and all inclusive with the Hubster…yes please! As most newlyweds will agree, the lead up to the wedding is manic and stressful, so having a Honeymoon to look forward to is the most amazing experience. A well needed break filled with sun, sea and…relaxation and time together was so appreciated. We loved every minute of it…and the best part of it was calling him my Husband (every five minutes!) I’ll never get bored of saying that…

Cheers to married life!

Wish we were there…

Bringing Miss Enchanting to Life

When someone mentioned the idea of starting a blog, I thought I’ve done a zillion other jobs (which I will tell you about one day!), why not not give this a go? I never actually thought anyone would take the time to read it other than Mum, but here we are three months later with almost ten thousand hits and I’m pretty sure Mum didn’t rack that up for me alone. I am loving every minute of this blog experience and I am sharing it with so many new friends all over the world and am so excited to see where this blog journey will venture in 2014. I am unbelievably grateful to each and everyone of you who takes the time to read, share and comment…thank you so much!

Turning 30

So I didn’t have a meltdown or hide away until it was over.

You can read about my turning 30 woes here.

I had a little party and was spoilt by my gorgeous family and friends.

I can’t say I will be as calm about turning 40…the thought and dread has already crossed my mind a few times about this eventuality…but I shouldn’t stress…just yet.

Turning 30…Oh I keep forgetting I’m a Lady now!

Our First Christmas

As much as I thought it would be difficult splitting our Christmas between families, you can read about our little dilemma here, it was actually one of the loveliest Christmas’s ever, which you can catch up on here. Spending it with my Husband and both our families was really special and it made us feel excited to start new traditions and build even more memories with the Birch’s and the Albury’s! Plus I didn’t drop or break anything…which is a first too! Yay me!

Family & Friends

We have shared so many amazing moments with everyone this year and they have all played a special part in making so many wonderful memories…love you all!

Who knows what 2014 will bring us, all I can hope for is another year filled with love and laughter and most importantly that all my loved ones have a safe and healthy year.

Happy New Year to all my gorgeous readers!

What were your highlights of this year?

With Love & Happy Memories,

Katie x
