On Saturday I turned 31 years old. This time last year the prospect of turning thirty was a reflective one which I celebrated by becoming a Lady and eating my body weight in gluten free red velvet birthday cake. I do love birthdays. Usually I’ve been bugging my family with countdowns to how many sleeps until my birthday, hints of gifts I’d love and endless plans on how to celebrate my day, but this year, my birthday kind of crept up on me.
This is probably down to the fact that I’ve been busier than usual with work, blogging, vlogging, home life, oh, and that constant cloud of worry that has been following us around all year. The more likely reason being, I’m just getting on and my birthday excitement is finally fading away. Saying that, aside from the lack of excitement leading up to it, this birthday was actually one of my favourites to date. It was breezy, fun and a whole lot less painful than it was turning thirty that’s for sure.
After a lazy morning opening cards and (amazing) presents in bed, we finally set off for the day to Brighton. We enjoyed fish and chips and a bottle of sparkly on the seafront, followed by a walk along the pebbles dodging mahoosive seagulls and mooching in all the seaside shops. We then spent an afternoon being thrown about and getting whiplash on all the crazy rides Brighton Pier has to offer. So having the most brilliant birthday, with my gorgeous family, feeling very lucky and loved, most definitely made my Highlight of the Week.
