Dining with Debenhams this Christmas…

One day, in the not too distant future I just know it’s going to happen. It hasn’t happened yet and I’m not sure how long I’ve got left, but one thing’s for sure is that one day, I’m going to have to host Christmas dinner. Oh man…Up until this point I’ve been lucky enough to know that when Christmas Day rolls around, my Mum would have worked tirelessly preparing for that one day, whilst the rest of us merrily rock up, sit back and enjoy the feast. Mum would have endured many a sleepless night, woken up by nightmares involving headless turkeys and supermarket sweeps searching for brussel sprouts, chestnuts and any other festive food that only gets consumed once a year. She would have spent days running from store to store, ticking off her never ending lists ensuring that our Christmas is practically perfect in every way and she never let’s us down.

One day the time will come when I’ll hear myself utter the words, “would you like to come to us for Christmas this year?” Eek! The very thought of it brings me out in a cold sweat. But if there’s one aspect to hosting Christmas that I am looking forward to, it’s creating the perfect dining table spread. So when the very lovely Jen over at Love Chic Living launched her I’m Dreaming of Debenhams Dinnerware competition, I just couldn’t resist joining in and designing my very own dream dinner table using a selection of their gorgeous festive dining range.

Dreaming of Debenhams Dinnerware

I love neutral tones and shades. Rarely do I go for bright, risky colours. Stylish shades and sparkles always catch my eye and I know that I’d feel like a confident hostess with a dinner table bursting with elegant pieces such as the  Royal Doulton ‘Paramount Platinum’ Dining Set and RJR. John Rocha Polished Cutlery Set, complimented by the Gold Lustre ‘Lucile’ Wine Glasses and matching water glasses. Not forgetting the all important wine cooler with a festive snowflake wine topper to toast the festivities in style. Cheers.

The centre of the table would be covered with RJR. John Rocha Neutral Pleated Table Runner, topped with these Metal Snowflake Confetti for that added sparkle. These stunning silver beaded placemats,  matching napkin holders and simple but stylish Metal Reindeer Place Card Holders would complete the dining arrangement before the all important grub is served.

When thinking about the centre piece, you ideally want something eye catching, but also something that doesn’t block your guests eye line across the table from each other. I love using a few centre pieces in various heights to give the table more depth. The Glittery Twig Christmas Tree Decoration would provide a gorgeous focal point to my twinkling table.  Complimented by two of the RJR. John Rocha Metallic Wire Bowls either side of the tree filled with Antique Effect Baubles.

So with my dream table set, now all that’s left is to plan my festive feast. Seeing as I’m Gluten Free, I’d love to perfect something really tasty and new for the whole family to enjoy. Jamie Oliver’s gluten free parsnip, pork and apple stuffing looks delicious and would make a yummy change from the traditional stuffing served every year. If I’m feeling brave (or crazy) I might even give it a go this year…Well I might as well ease myself into it as you never know, next year it could be my turn to host. Oh dear…!
