Back in early Summer, I attended a fabulous event with Time & Leisure Magazine. A premier local lifestyle magazine delivered monthly in South West London & Surrey. The team treated me, and a bunch of lovely bloggers, to a wonderful evening filled with Prosecco, Pink Gin and an abundance of amazing beauty treatments in collaboration with Elys Wimbledon.
I don’t get out much these days. So you can imagine how excited I was to have a night out away from the dreaded bedtime routine. Instead, I was able to have an adult conversation, (aka finish a conversation) whilst sipping (gulping) Prosecco. We were also treated to a mini make-over with a Bobbi Brown Pro Artist- Amy Conway nonetheless! When she asked me what I’d like doing on my face, I replied, “to look exactly like you!” but sadly she didn’t have a magic wand in her makeup case, but was all very, very lovely.
So I was relieved that my over-excitement at that event hadn’t scared the Time & Leisure team off too much and they later kindly invited me to their Food & Culture Awards just a few weeks ago. It was another brilliant opportunity to ditch the snot covered comfies, wash my hair and spend the day with some of the best food and beverage providers in South London.
Food & Culture Awards
The event was held at the exclusive Hurlingham Club which I haven’t been to since way back in my event planning days. A private members club, situated within 42 acres of stunning grounds and bordering the Thames in Fulham. The venue oozes tradition and heritage. It was the perfect backdrop to celebrate some of the best food, drink and entertainment suppliers that the SW postcode has to offer.
Prior to the awards, we had the opportunity to schmooze with the award nominees, as well as try and test some delicious samples from some great companies. There were amazing cakes by Ann’s Designer Cakes, cheese to die for by Teddington Cheese and mini cheesecakes by Pleesecakes that had everyone talking.
There’s something so very special about awards ceremonies. You can always feel the anticipation and the hope in the air. There were some really brilliant companies up for nomination. I was thrilled to see a few that I knew well, be announced the winners of the day.
Bourbons Coffee Shop picked up the award for best Coffee & Tea House– a place that I used to visit twice a week to sit and work, trying to build up my little business so that I didn’t have to go back to work after having Billie. Black’s Burger who I’ve been working with this year along with a client of mine, in collaboration with their Rainbow Cake Shake, took home Best Eating Experience, so it was great to see them awarded. You can read more about the winners and nominees of the event over here.
It was a really fun day and it was great meeting so many local suppliers and people from a range of different businesses. I came home feeling very full, content and pleased with myself for stepping out from my comfort zone. It’s not always easy without my little diva’s to hide behind. Learning the art of communicating with adults again, whilst in heels and holding a glass of something sparkly. The latter is, of course, something I never forgot how to do.
Thank you so much to Time & Leisure for inviting me to this event. Looking forward to working with you again soon!
