Ugh, housework. Some people love it. Some people loathe it. I’m kind of in the middle. I love having a clean home but there are
some a lot of aspects of housework that I just find a real chore and always put off doing for as long as possible, (cough, the bathroom!) So with it being a fresh new year, I wanted to share with you how I’ve been keeping on top of the housework lately with my Housework Planner.
The Housework Planner
It’s something that I’ve wanted to create for a while now and after just two weeks of following it, I already feel less overwhelmed. By listing all of the household tasks, it was really helpful to see on paper the difference between daily chores and weekly housework. Before this, I’d always find myself feeling overloaded and that absolutely everything in the house always needed doing. I can now plan the housework around our week and everything is spread out so that it is realistically achievable.
More Time Less Stress
Now that I’m managing the jobs, around my work and the girl’s schedules better, I actually appreciate my time more. Rather than feeling like I should always be doing something, I do that day’s allocated tasks either early or easily during the day so that I can appreciate the day more, with a lot less pressure. Freeing up more time for the girls and me. Yesterday I even sat down and read my book for a whole thirty minutes. I can’t even believe I did that and guess what, zero guilt was felt. None whatsoever. All thanks to my handy new Housework Planner.
Everyone Can Follow It
The planner isn’t just for my benefit. Oh no. We share the housework in our household as when our schedules allow. Something I will always encourage with the girls. We all create the dirt, so we should all play a part in cleaning it up!
Now that the planner is working for us, I want to get a frame for it which I’ll put it in and position next to our Family Organisation Station. Then each time a job is completed we can tick it off with a wipeable pen so that the planner is reusable each and every week.
